Gutter Replacement in St. Petersburg
Old, sagging, leaking or undersized gutter taken down and hauled away, new seamless aluminum up the same visit. Usually $1,400–$3,400 for a single-story home.
When replacing beats repairing
Repair is the right call for one bad joint, a loose hanger or a detached downspout. Replace when the problem is the gutter itself rather than one spot on it.
- It is sectional. If you can see a seam every few feet, every one of those is leaking or about to. Patching them is a rolling cost with no end.
- It is 5-inch on a roof that needs 6. No amount of repair fixes a gutter that physically cannot carry the water.
- The fascia board is wet behind it. Usually means it has been overflowing or leaking at the back edge for a long time.
- Spike-and-ferrule hangers. The old nail-through-the-front method. Once they start pulling out, they keep pulling out.
- It is visibly wavy. Sag means water is sitting in the run instead of moving, which adds weight, which adds sag.
What happens to the old gutter
It comes down, goes on the truck and leaves with us the same day. Aluminum is recyclable and that is where ours goes. Nothing is stacked by the side of the house for a week.
The fascia question
Taking old gutter off is the only time anyone sees the board behind it. On a St. Pete home that has been overflowing for a few seasons there is often some soft wood at the outlets. We photograph it, show you, and price it before we go further. Small sections we handle; a whole run of rotten fascia is a carpentry job and we will tell you that rather than hanging new gutter on wood that will not hold a screw in two years.
Replacement cost
| Job | St. Pete range |
|---|---|
| Single-story, 5-inch to 6-inch | $1,400–$3,400 |
| Two-story or cut-up roofline | $2,600–$5,200 |
| Partial: one or two elevations | $450–$1,200 |
| Tear-off and disposal | Included |
| Fascia repair, per section | $80–$220 |
Replacement costs a little more per foot than a fresh install because of the removal and haul-away. See the full pricing page.
Ranges are St. Petersburg brackets. Removal and disposal are included in the quoted figure; there is no separate haul-away line added later.
Common questions
Can you replace just one side of the house?
Yes. The elevation that faces the weather usually fails first and it is perfectly reasonable to do that one now and the rest later. Per-foot cost is slightly higher on a small run because the trip and setup are the same.
Will new gutter match the color of what is left?
We bring samples and match as closely as the finish range allows. Bear in mind existing gutter has faded, so a perfect match to twenty-year-old aluminum is not realistic; we will be honest about how close it will be.
Do I need to be home?
Someone over 18 to let us in at the start, and ideally there at the end to walk it with us. The work itself is all outside.
How much mess is there?
Some. Old gutter holds grit and leaf mulch and it comes out when we take it down. We tarp below, pick up and blow the area down before we leave.
Is it worth upgrading to 6-inch while you are here?
Almost always, yes. The labor is already being spent and the material difference is modest. It is the one upgrade that changes whether the system copes with a real Florida downpour.
